Grapevine's Senior Activities Center (SAC) provides a wide variety of fun activities and needed services for local residents 55 and above. Located two blocks west historical downtown Main Street at 421 Church Street, the newly renovated facility provides a welcome retreat for friends, neighbors and new faces to gather and enjoy each other's company. Membership is free and some bus service to and from the SAC is available. Please join us for this upcoming event:

This positive atmosphere carries on each day at the Center, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., with a hot lunch served at noon. Reservations are required 48-hours in advance for dining, and the cost is $6 for folks 55-59 years of age. For those 60 and above, any contribution is welcomed, but not required.
Since there are so many things to do, places to go and classes to take — the Senior Activities Center has it's own newsletter, The Grape Affair, to keep you up to date. If you would like to receive a free subscription, please call the Center and ask to be added to the mailing list. And don't forget the monthly Dance; each dance offers a theme band that plays from 7-9:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month.

Whatever you have an interest in — there is an activity at the Center to compliment your passion. There are groups playing bridge and bingo, oil painting, learning basic computer, practicing T'ai Chi, enjoying potluck and and a movie night, knitting for charity, doing water aerobics, Mall walking, and defensive driving... just to name a few. And events and classes are always changing. In most cases, registration is free, but some classes do have minimal costs.

The Center also supports a Red Hat Society for women who want to go on fun outings and have lunch in a new restaurant each month. Ladies leave at 9:30 a.m. and are back by 2:00 p.m. Trips vary monthly, so sign-up at the front desk is requested beforehand.
In addition, gentlemen who are 55+ are invited to participate in monthly camaraderie in the Fraternal Order of the Plaid Shirts. The group chooses a place in the Metroplex area for a bus tour each month, and also eats lunch out each trip. Please RSVP to 817-410-8130 when attending, and don't forget to wear your favorite plaid shirt! Check the monthly SAC calendar for details and times. |
