In the early years, churches served as the foundation for life on the Grape Vine prairie. Usually meeting in homes, horseback circuit-riding preachers would visit the settlers holding worship services and prayer meetings. Not only did the churches support life in the community, they also built schools to help educate the children.
Not much has changed over the years, and the mission continues today. Churches embrace our community and children from the very start of life. Most offer mothers-day out programs, pre-school classes, summer Vacation Bible Schools, musical concerts, and many opportunities for community service.
Today, there are about 30 churches in Grapevine that continue to unite a faith-based community, praying for each other, and promoting peace and love with benevolent hearts.

St. Francis of Assisi – Outreach Thrift Store and Pantry
The goal of the St. Francis of Assisi Outreach is to connect the parish community to help meet the basic needs of brothers and sisters in need. The St. Francis Outreach Ministry was first organized in the parish in 1979 as an outgrowth from the original St. Vincent de Paul conference. The food pantry has also played an integral part of the assistance provided by the outreach ministry. Through the generosity of many volunteers and the parish family, the Thrift Store and the food pantry have become one of the top emergency assistance centers in the Grapevine area today.
