| Event Description | "Talking Pictures" by Horton Foote. From the author who created the screenplays for To Kill a Mockingbird and A Trip to Bountiful comes a charmingly, delightful play. It's 1929 in Harrison, Texas, where a mixed marriage is one between a Methodist and a Baptist, and going to the movies is considered in some households as a risky undertaking. Myra Tolliver finds herself at a crossroads in life and facing some pretty huge decisions. As a “grass widow” with a 14-year old son, she is searching for her way in the world as her job at the local movie theatre is being threatened. Her ex-husband tries to lure her son away with promises of much more than she can give him. Love, longing, compromise, and broken marriages are all explored in this humorous and touching story.
