What are others saying about Old West Café?

Brian from Austin says, “If you’re looking for a down to earth good home cookin place, look no further! If you’re looking for a place that exudes southern hospitality, and delivers on a hearty breakfast/brunch, then have I got the place for you! Where do I even begin? The interior is classic Texas with deer head antlers, cowboy boots, and an overall down to earth feel, very good ambiance and energy. Service is top notch too, classic Texas hospitality of going above and beyond to make you feel at home. For instance, I thought they would have chips and guacamole since they had guacamole, but they didn’t. Waitress said they were it just so happened that they had a party that day and had some chips, so she put together a plate for me! Huge points for sure! And the guacamole was delicious, very spicy for some reason, and extremely fresh. On to the menu and the real meat of the review though. What a selection! You have your classic pancakes, a whole omelet section, biscuits and gravy, Tex Mex, healthy options, you’ve got it all! I was pulled all over the place, but settled on the Six Shooter for the country fried steak, biscuits, eggs, and a side of hash browns. The eggs were great, hash browns were crispy and tasty, and the biscuits and gravy were phenomenal. But the real star of the show was the chicken fried steak. Normally I’m not certain on chicken fried steak. Don’t get me wrong, it’s the best when done right, and one of my favorite foods, but all too often there is way too much batter, or the meat isn’t very good. Rest assured, neither the meat to batter ratio, nor the quality is a
concern! What a steak, I think easily one of the best I’ve ever had in the state, and I’ve had my share of chicken fried steaks. If you’re hungry and looking for a solid way to start your day don’t delay this is the place for you!”

Kelly from AR says, “Amazing! Stopped here for a bite on Easter morning because we wanted to eat before going to tour Gaylord. Well we stumbled on a gem! Honestly, the menu has so many options it’s overwhelming. We got some help and recommendations from our server and we’re not disappointed. The portions were huge! I’m not a huge fan of pancakes, and we got the plain traditional as a side and ended up with two huge pancakes larger than a grown adults head!!! And I loved them- almost ordered some to go because they were that good and I’m not a pancake person. Definitely give them a try. Between the pancakes and always full cup of coffee I left feeling full and happy.”
