Longtime Grapevine Councilman Dies

C. Shane Wilbanks died Friday, August 21, 2015 at his home. At the age of 73, Wilbanks died of natural causes in his sleep. Wilbanks is survived by shanewilbankshis wife of 51 years, Paula Wilbanks and their three grown children.

Wilbanks served as a Grapevine City Councilman for 30 years, and was most recently re-elected in May to a term that ends in 2018. Wilbanks was a major contributor to the city’s leadership and the growth of Grapevine over the years.

“The Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park, our trail system and City parks have all been touched by the vision and talents of Mayor Pro Tem Wilbanks,” commented the city in an announcement of his death. “Shane loved Grapevine and served our community for many years.”

Wilbanks was also a member of the Grapevine Rotary Club and was on the board of the Grapevine Baylor Scott & White Hospital, the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce and the First Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Tuesday August 25th, at First Presbyterian Church in Grapevine (1002 Park Blvd). Burial will follow at Grapevine Cemetery.
