For the tenth year, the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation will honor the top graduating seniors from the Class of 2009 at Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine high schools, each of their favorite teachers, and the district’s Teachers of the Year. The Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation’s “Celebrating Our Stars” Academic Recognition Banquet will be held Thursday, June 4, at the Embassy Suites Outdoor World in Grapevine. The Foundation’s 2009 Distinguished Friend recipient, Janice Kane, will also be recognized.  Past recipients of the Distinguished Friend Award include Roy Stewart in 2003, Balla Wright in 2004, Shirley Cannon Holley in 2005, Dr. Jim Thompson in 2006, Mark Howe in 2007, and John T. Eubanks in 2008.

Judy Atwood, event co-chair, said, “The banquet is a GCISD community celebration - a very positive occasion that recognizes distinguished students and teachers. The Foundation is thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize these outstanding students and teachers and truly appreciate the sponsors and individuals who help make this annual event possible.”

The evening will begin with a reception, followed by dinner, entertainment by GHS senior Tiffany Avery and CHHS senior Patrick Thomas, congratulatory remarks by GCISD Superintendent and Education Foundation Secretary Kay Waggoner, and the recognition of the Distinguished Friend, Students and their Distinguished Teachers, and the Teachers of the Year with a extra special presentation to the District Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year by Park Place Motorcars, Bedford.
