So-Cal Tacos

So-Cal Tacos found a way to bring the tastes and vibes of Southern California to Grapevine. Located off Hall-Johnson Rd. and Highway 121, So-Cal Tacos opened in 2013. What began as a food truck named “Woody” in 2011, So-Cal Tacos has morphed into a super rad fast-casual restaurant and bar.

When you walk into So-Cal Tacos, you feel the California beach vibes through the surf board lined walls, sunny lights and bright colors. Grab a turquoise colored bar stool or vintage table and enjoy delicious margaritas and ice cold beer, with a tasty menu of fresh tacos, burritos, Gnarly Nachos and a fantastic Cilantro-Lime Salad. You can also order breakfast tacos all day, which are affordable and yummy!

Owner, Scott Wooley began this journey with a desire to create Southern California flavors with an emphasis on super fresh ingredients. So-Cal Tacos was created in the Wooley’s kitchen as they searched for a way to satisfy their craving for authentic  Southern California fish tacos. Now, you will usually find Wooley perched at the end of the bar with his laptop, ready to deliver hot food, help a guest or do whatever else is needed to maintain a positive flow in his restaurant.

“Food is a universal language; it breaks down all barriers,” Wooley says. “…It was never about building a business; it was about loving on people.”

By the time Wooley opened So-Cal Tacos in Grapevine, “Woody” had such a huge following in the area that the transition to a permanent location was an instant hit!  “Woody” didn’t retire after expansion and has doubled into two successful food trucks. “Kali” and “Woody” are rocking the food truck scene at large events, festivals and group caterings, and they are able to serve 500-600 guests at a time!

“We’re trying to create an atmosphere where people can just come in and take a deep breath,” Wooley said. “… Get some good food and beverage, get some good vibes, and then go back out in the world and spread the love.”

Is there a So-Cal Happy Hour? Yes there is! Wouldn’t it be totally awesome if there were more happy hours during the day? Wooley thinks so too! So-Cal Happy Hour happens twice a day! Centrally located near Grapevine, Colleyville and Mid-Cities, So-Cal Tacos is the perfect place to meet up with friends and family. Night shift workers, brunch warriors and day drinkers just got a new spot to hang out!

With plenty of awards, positive publicity and catering gigs lined up, So-Cal Tacos and the food trucks keep on trucking! In 2015, Southlake Style named Wooley as one of the “3 Names to Know in Food.” In 2014, So-Cal Tacos was rated in the Top 10 Mexican Restaurants in Grapevine by Grapevine Texas Online. Critics wrote, “While the menu may be small, the tacos are delicious. We love the Gamechanger!”

So when you’re ready to venture out to So-Cal Tacos, be sure to try the San Diego taco. Panko crusted fish, cilantro aioli and cabbage slaw come together for a delicious rage of flavor. Not into fried foods? Then the Gamechanger really is a game changer! Honey chipotle grilled salmon in a taco? Yes, please! And the massive burritos actually include guacamole, rice and beans, and the option to go Cali-Style and stuff it with fries! Yum! If salad is your thing, they make one and they make it well. And last but not least, the So-Cal Fries and Sopapilla Fries are where it’s at!

With a company culture of “Give love, receive love and repeat the process,” epic success is guaranteed.
